Making friends is hard.

It's my job to teach my boys to be productive, good young men. To teach them real things that help them to learn, to problem solve, to be creative, to manage emotion, to navigate life. Really navegate life.

Homeschooling is one of the most difficult things I have ever taken on. It started with Jameson, ending his 5th grade year with continued behavioral issues. Because of these issues, he was behind.

In starting 6th grade I was blindsided by how far behind he was in certain subjects, like math. He challenged every step of the way, through the whole year.

7th grade was much better. He was catching up and he was improving socially, but still behind with his behavior and ability to make and keep friends.

8th grade (this year) Jameson is the best version of himself so far. He's so smart and he is working on his reactions and social behavior. He wants nothing more than to have a friend. A friend that understands him and likes the same things he does. He's more ready every day for that friendship. I'm excited to see who picks him to be their best friend.

We have Jameson in the local youth group and we are hoping that he gets the nerve to make a friend.
